Experimentation

I'm really enjoying experimenting with some new techniques this month. I've been sanding down my pencils to create a graphite powder and then 'painting' my mid tone to begin. It's not especially smooth to apply but it does give a nice base layer to work up and down from. I can darken areas and erase areas to give a richer sense of a 3d form. I'm also testing what charcoal powder adds to my work. It gives a more solid and atmospheric blend but also less room for error as it's harder to erase.
